BACKGROUND:
This activity has students use an online simulation to observe interactions between tropic levels and food webs.
GOALS:
Students will be able to explain the relationship between the different tropic levels in an ecosystem (producers, herbivores, and carnivores) and how the addition or removal of one of these levels affects this relationship.
STANDARDS:
Organisms & Their Environment L.12.C - Students understand that ecosystems display patterns of organization, change, and stability as a result of the interactions and interdependencies among the living and non-living components of the Earth
MATERIALS:
Computer with internet access to Interactive Ecology Lab - http://www.learner.org/courses/envsci/interactives/ecology/
